Halcones UV Xalapa, a professional basketball team from Xalapa, Veracruz, faces rumors of disappearance from the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP). The organization published a video of gratitude for the five seasons played since its return to professional basketball in Mexico. The team concluded its participation in the 2025 LNBP season after being eliminated in the semifinals of the zone by the Astros de Jalisco by 3-0. Halcones UV Xalapa returned to the national league in 2021 with a renewed image and under the presidency of Ángel Morales Blanchet. The team achieved a cup tournament title and a league runner-up, as well as the opportunity to represent Mexico in the Basketball Champions League (BCL). The club did not participate in the women's league this year and was absent from the men's circuit presentation in March. The president of the franchise, Ángel Morales, was interviewed on a radio program and refused to confirm or deny the rumors. The LNBP assembly scheduled for January could clarify the situation. The previous version of Halcones UV Xalapa was in the Veracruz capital between 2003 and 2015.
